I don't think you can judge Murdoch from one of his possessions. He owns a lot, and they vary in their political stances. None of them are liberal-left (though apparently his son is a liberal), but they range from liberal-right to gutter jingoism. I'm more worried about the amount of power he has. He forced Tony Blair to promise a referendum on the European constitution by saying his papers would support the Tories otherwise. Now, many people wanted that, but the problem is that he basically blackmailed the Prime Minister, and no one should be able to do that.
