Bias in news explained.

I do not buy the liberal media conspiracy, that only reports on the negatives of the Bush campaign for the purpose to gain support for the Democratic party.

The media news requires good ratings in order to compete with other stations. The news has found out about this little thing called sensationalism which really shoots the ratings up. The rule of sensationalism is that the negative sells, bad news is good news, bold alarming print is best.

Sensationalism comes from yellow journalism which is overly exploited news of tabloid proportions, which was sometimes even false. Think national enquirer. It was called yellow journalism because of its bright font that was designed to arouse buyers of the newsprint.

So what I am tring to say is that todays news outlets that report weeks on anna nicole and paris hilton are modern forms of yellow journalism. With the innovation of the internet people can research political issues and news, doing away from media news.

It is not a political conspiracy but a conspiracy for ratings. Of course some anchor is going to voice his opinion or some news company is going to enforce a bias to news reports but the alternative is fox news give me a break. Get your news online people or research the topic discussed in a news report.

Don't forget that most major news outlets are nothing more than vehicles to sell ad space. They are renting your brain as a billboard. That's why ratings matter. I get almost all of my news online (where everything is true and nobody is biased :P ).

Steps to coming up with an opinion,
1.) You hear something interesting in the news.
2.)You research this topic from reliable sources from both points of view.
3.)You come up with your own informed opinion.
4.) You find a candidate that has a similar stance on the issue.

What not to do,
Never ever make an opinion based on an Ad you see on T.V.," vote for prop. B"
Listen to a talk radio host and repeat it like a parrot what they say and use their opinion.
Make opinions based on what you see on the news.
Opinions based on emotions.
Opinions based on what makes you look better to others.
Do not let someone else make you go along with their opinion, think for yourself.
ETC.

To bad the majority does what is in my second list.

Admittedly a weakness of mine at times.
