I will have to add this video to the "good things" on the EU thread

I am awaiting a british Sun or Daily Express article on it soon... something like "our tax money for porn" or so...or "Eu tries to destroy our childrens by infesting them with immorality"...

PS:
Those scenes were not produced for that clip as I have heard, its just a summary of scense of various European movies. So it probably was even expensive to make.

PPS:
"Lets come together"

A few scenes are from the movie Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Le (2001), one of the most succesful French movies in the last years. And probably also one of the best.

If the money is spend to support movies like this one, I am all for it.

There exist more videos about the European film funding.

This one is called "romanticism"
Of course, its not controversial enough for 3 million views so it only has 150.000 views....

European movies are often quite emotional:

joy

and the opposite of it

Having seen all of these movies I have to say I dont understand what the fuss about the first one is all about. After all those clips shows different aspects of the European movie, and sex is just one aspect. One aspect among many others. Like its really the case in film and life.

Could this be the beginning of another Age of European Enlightenment or a step back down into the Dark Ages?

Could you elaborate? Those four ads have been originially produced for one of the large European film festivals. You know, those festivals American movie stars come when they start to feel the aim for getting class and getting rid of the limitations Hollywood throws on them. And therefore join up the numorous European film makers. (And guest film makers from all over the world)

All of these four ads show major emotions that of course play a role in movies. Often I dare to say even in American movies, wouldn't you agree?

Whats left if you take joy, misery, romance and sex out of the movies? I would say an empty action movie at best.

Certainly. In plain English, will this be beneficial to the perception of Europe or characterize Europe as hedonistic?

Neither nor.
I think you overestimate the impact of this movie.

But within its frame of impact it shows in my opinion somethign positive. After all it seems only those who do not or do not want to understand the message of this ad campaign isolate this "sex-video" from the other ones. Its the whole number of videos together that draw the complete picture.

Sex is a natural part of life, and also of movies. Why should we feel the need to deny it?

But sex is just one element beneath many others, others like romance, joy, and tragedy. All those ad movies have in common that they focus on one specific element of European movies. And they do so in using exclusively scenes from European movies produced lately. Good movies, often even exceptionally good movies. None of them is soft porn. In case you should know the European movie scene, you know.
