Israeli/Egyptian row over documentary

A controversial Israeli documentary film which claims that Israeli soldiers massacred their egyptian counterparts AFTER they surrendered in large numbers during the war of 1967 is causing outrage in Egypt. One of the israeli officers concerned was apparently former defence minister Benjamin Ben Eliezer (Labour). The egyptian governement is under pressure.........

Maybe Israel did do it. However, getting angry about it is probably not what the Middle East needs right now. If I were an Egyptian, I would want the government to focus on Egypt's economic problems. I don't know much about Egypt, but I think they also have a problem with "radical Islam" down there. Those are the two main problems I see for Egypt. Other things are just secondary problems for them.

The main issues in egyptian society are repression, corruption and poverty in my opinion. And it is precisely those radical islamic groups you mentioned who are exploiting anger and frustration for their own purposes. Same goes for this film, and so the governement has to act at least symbolically.

Two remarks.
First is that Israel fought the war of 1967 as a "preemptive" war, though for understandable reasons. The could reasonably exspect an attack by the other side if they hadn´t. But still it was Israel that attacked, not Egypt.
Secondly the execution of soldiers after they have surrendered is commonly refferred to as a "war crime". But apparently you´re belonging to those who claim different moral standards for Israel.....
