My original thoughts was no, and neither is the New York Times necessary either.

But, PBS is certainly less useful for education than it used to be with the History channel and the Discovery channel etc. I mean who actually watches PBS anymore? Plus, it has turned into a liberal spewing bull shit channel. Just what we need.

No we dont need either of them actually. Just wasted money.

The government can cut into any programing it wants on TV and radio for emergency situations. That is all we need the government for in these areas, not education. I think the government has screwed up education enough already in this country.

I think PBS is an excellent channel. Their news is unbiased like say Fox News is and I liken Bush's attempt to cut funding as an attempt at censorship

PBS and especially NPR are the only channels that carry anything approaching unbiased coverage of foreign news.

Their loss would confirm the US as the world's greatest third world country.
