Q1) The Americans would have tried to undermine the revolution at every turn, just like Cuba. They would have embarked on an economic war against Bolivia. They probably would have aided terrorists in the fight against the revolution. They would fund dissidents to rebel. Though if the Bolivian people stood firm in defiance and had a figurehead like Castro then they may have survived.
Q2) There would still be a propaganda campaign against him. Just look at Chavez - he has done everything peacefully and the ruling class would still like us to believe he is the root of all evil. Even without an armed struggle Che still possesed what the impwerialists fear most - ideas. History has shown us being peaceful doesn't matter - socialists are always villains - the peaceful democrats Allende and Lumumba died because of this.
