I wonder is it even possible to get non-opionated information about how things are going in Venezuela. I agree with what you said, but what I also think is that the other side is not neutral either.
I have understood corruption has been daily life in Venezuela in all levels for ages. Chavez is having his fun with his ideology and he enjoys bragging to the Americans, but behind it's just different people than before taking advantage of the situation, using and directing the resources in what's their intrest.
Legally speaking the system could be considered democratic on the paper. But how things really run and are done, what decisions are based on, is a different story. If this wasn't the case, why on earth Chavez would need to build this ideology of Revolucion Bolivariana so much? Clearly he is building something that will have the same role as what Cuban Revolutoin has. That will become something no one can say anything against. The official absolute truth kind of thing.
