Illegal Alien Movement equal to Civil Rights movement?
No link, but I just heard on CNN that an illegal alien facing just deportation charges is given santuary in a local church. This woman compares herself to Rosa Parks during the Civil Rights movement.
Does anyone but me get just a little perterbed at the fact that this Amnesty movement has been compared to the Civil Rights movement by not only this instance, but during those numerous demonstrations? Does the fact that the proponents of Civil Rights were "citizens" already even phase this side?
The illegal immigration ordeal going on today is nowhere near the things Black-Americans had to endure to be granted "Basic Human Rights". As I viewed the massive demostrations, I noticed that no illegal was beaten by cops, hosed down by firemen, attacked by dogs, etc. Illegals are not made to enter any establishment from the rear instead of the entrance. Illegals are not forced to ride at the back of the bus, nor required to use separate facilities.
Or maybe it's just me...

Sounds like she doesn't know much about the civil rights movement.

I think ther are certain similarities between the two, at least when you consider the racial overtones involved inthe current immigration fight.
I've been discussing this issue on another forum and many of the comments are not really about immigration, but are simply racially charged statements of anti-mexican bigotry.
With that in mind, I think there are certain human rights/civil rights issues involved that need to be addressed in the discussion of the immigration issue, and a distinction needs to be made between those who want to protect the border and those who just hate Mexicans.

You are going to compare people that are not citizens in this country. That snuck over and invaded our country to the members of the Civil Rights movement? Are you serious?
The only thing that needs to happen is have the rule of law be upheld.

They are full of it. Even if they had a book about the civil rights movement they wouldn't be able to read it anyways. They are are just desperate, and desperate people say stupid things.

Very simple answer.
No.
They're nothing like each other and comparing them is straight up stupid.

I can't see the comparison. We aren't denying them (illegals) any rights or oprressing them. True, many of us are saying "don't come in", but that doesn't count. They are free to live their lives any way they want in their home country, and they can even apply to move here legally if they choose.

Hatred is there, sadly, but border security and illegal immigration are serious issues.
I just don't equate the U.S. having a secure border and enforcing immigration rules as being racist or oppressive.

I don't see how they would be the same. Hispanics aren't discrminated against because of color.

Maybe if illegals realize it isn't a catch and release program, it might help the problem.
