Most Powerful nations in all of history
What nation(s) do you think were the most powerful ones in all of history? It's critical thinking and make sure you base your answer on political, social, economic and military influences.

Well all things have to be relative here. Power relative to CONTEMPORARY nations at the time, not relative to other nations in history.
Hmmm......
We need a definition of power too.
I'd have to say:
(1) Rome
(2) The United States
(3) Britain
(4) The Ottoman Empire
(5) China
(6) Russia
(7) Mongolia
(8) Persia

What about the ancient assyrian empire? or the Babylonians? The bible talks about them in-depth, they were really powerful, and considered worse than the Nazis

I think biblical accounts were a little one sided. The Hebrews hated the Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Phillistines, later the Romans, geeze who else?....Everybody who looted pillaged and plundered your ragtag malnurished bunch of religious wackos might be a terrible pain in the ass, but everyone had looting patrols back then. Nazis seem to me to be a singular evil force loose in the world......Am I nitpicking? Sorry Locke

Unquestionably, the USA tops the list, as no other nation in history has ever been more influential or more powerful economically, politically, militarily, and culturally. Unfortunately, the self-hating left anxiously wishes to bring it down.
The British Empire stretched far and wide and had enormous influence and impact in its hey day.
The Roman Empire wins hands down as the most powerful and influential pre modern empire.

Funny....I don't feel like I hate myself .......anywho....how can the US be unquestionably #1 when we haven't even been an "Empire" for 60 years? The Greeks were arounds for 800 I think, The Romans 900? The Egyptians 1800years, The Ottomans for 400 years.
And the USA offering the world culture?? What? country music? Wrestling? Brittany Spears? The Backstreet Boys?......There are movies though, and Rock N Roll, I'll give ya that!
I love my country I just think you're premature Joe

The most powerful in all of history? The Roman, Chinese, British, Mongolian, Persian and Islamic empires were all incredibly powerful at particular times. Over all, I'd say, in terms of sheer power, Britain. It ruled a quarter of the world's people, virtually abolished the slave trade in its latter days through threatening to shell anyone who traded slaves, had the most powerful military (its land military wasn't that powerful, but its naval power was massive), and had the most advanced technology of its time. However, one point that could be raised is that it didn't last very long as an Empire, compared to say the Roman Empire, which technically lasted nearly 2000 years.
As to modern superpowers like the US or the USSR, the US has never controlled enough territory to be very powerful by historical standards (it is indeed the most powerful nation in the world, but that is because there are so many countries these days). The USSR was too short-lived.
