The legacy of the battle of el Alamein

65 years ago allied forces were finally able to stop the german /italian armies under General Erwin Rommel on their way to Kairo at el Alamein, an oasis in modern western egypt. And while each year fewer and fewer veterans gather there to assure each other of their reconsiliation mines and bombs from the battle still pose a grave danger to the local population. The governement in Kairo has acknowledged the risk to the locals without getting into details what could be done , but few has been done also from the former war powers.........
