Revoking Hitlers german passport

Braunschweig in the modern german state of Niedersachsen has been the city where Hitler offically became a german citizen, which made him eligible for political posts. Otherwise he couldn´t have become chancellor in 1933. The Weimar republic wasn´t to eager to grant him citizenship, until Nazi party representatives from Braunschweig helped him out.
Now social democratic politicians from that city want to revoke Hitler´s passport which would posthumously "degermanize" him as a "symbolic step".

This is really, really stupid. Whatever they do, Hitler was German. They can say he wasn't, just as I can see anything about anyone in history, but no one is going to recognize what I say and, even if every government institution in Germany says that Hitler isn't/wasn't a Germany, no one is going to do anything but laugh at them.

Germany is in a place where it has gone too far. What is the punishment for denying the Holocaust in any shape, form or manner?

To deny the Holocaust publicly, in a way that is meant to incite racial or political hatred etc, can bring you into prison...
I think the maximum is five years.....

Ernst Zundel sentenced to 5 years for Holocaust denial

Before you´re using such unfriendly vocabulary at least get you´re facts right. Mozart was from Austria also, born in Salzburg in 1756, even if that´s "unimportant" and doesn´t add anything to the "unimportant" discussion.

my german friend says she is always uncomfortable to say from where she is, because of the two world war. what a shame that at least one of them was by a person who wasn't even german. a complete nation all these years suffered because of him.
BTW I'm completely surprised, hearing this. he must have been really lucky, getting in the top of a party in a country other than his.

Hitler was from Austria.
Mozart was actually NOT from Germany. He was from Salzburg.

Germany is not allowed to take away someones German citizenship if this would make him statesless. But thats exactly what Germany will do if it revokes his citizenship post hum, isn't it?

(Hilter was stateless before he got the German citizenship. No this was not an Austrian idea this was his own, for some reason he preferred to be stateless instead of being Austrian)

That was the question I was going to ask.
If you do take away Hitlers citizenship, what then?
Are you going to be saying Hitler from ______ that LED Germany down a path of destruction from 1939 till 1945?
Do not misunderstand me We in America have had some bad people from America, and some that was granted citizenship Al Copone, Benedict Arnold, ect., but revolking their citizenship after their dead sound like closing the door after the cows got out it would serve no purpise, and people would still remember.

From a legal position if Hitler looses his German citizenship, he is citizen of no country at all, ie stateless.

I think the problem at this issue is, that the reasons why they think about this all in Germany are noble, but they will not be perceived as noble, but people will only see some bad motives.

What the German city wants to do is to repair something that could only happen due to Nazis who bent the law (I am talking about how Hitler got his citizenship), they want redo that he still has a "honor" citizenship. Foreigner will however think they want to make Hitler an alien and ban him from Germany and therefor think its an attempt to burry the unpleasant history which in reality is certainly not the intent.
