Common myths about the Civil War held by neo-confederates
1. Slavery did not cause secession.
Untrue as only slavery can explain the timing of Southern secession.
2. Multitudes of blacks willingly fought for the Confederate Army.
Untrue. Black soldiers served as slaves for the Confederate army, doing menial labor such as digging entrenchments and cooking. The Confederacy did not arm blacks until the very end of the war.
3. The Emancipation Proclamation freed no one
Untrue. Every black who was freed in the Confederate states prior to the ratification of the 13th amendment was freed by the EP.
There are more but this is a good start.
