I would be interested to see the actual study on this to see if it gives the mechanics behind the increased numbers. HIV (the virus itself) actually has a fairly short lifespan outside the human body due to temperature inconsistencies, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with the uncircumsized head providing a more stable environment for the virus to exist longer either on the surface or immediate subsurface of the skin. (Unless the study controlled for this, I'm assuming that the cleaning practices in Africa may also be a bit, uh, substandard, which could contribute?)
