Seriously, that childhood psych drugs is one complex issue, and the herbs? It nearly impossible to find a physchaitrist who is knowlegable about combining the two treatments....then....the FDA doesn't recognize most herbs as anything worthwhile. It hazardous enough for adults. But it's still better than the misery of untreated mental illness.

What are you advocating? No class A psych drugs for mentally ill kids? Or do you just really hate phychaitrists

Most anti-depressants are associated with suicide--why? Because sometimes they take a person from being too depressed to commit suicide to a level where they have the energy to commit suicide.

Psychiatric drugs are the reason that a lot of mentally ill people can function fairly normally in society. Without them, we'd have to go back to state mental hospitals like we had back before the 1970s or so.

Also, most natural stuff doesn't work. Some of it does, but most is just quackery and placebos.

My dad is a retired psychiatrist. He was involved in several studies of vitamins and other natural "drugs" on severely mentally ill folks. They didn't work. Most natural drugs don't work, except for by the placebo effect. If natural drugs did work, then the people who advocate them could prove it by double blind studies using the scientific method. They don't do that, because they know that their stuff doesn't work.

There is no cure for herpes, it may hide the symptoms, but it doesn't cure the STD. Also, WRT the OP, Psychiatrists are buisnessmen. They are biased in a) what they tell you, b) what they prescribe to you. Many are sponsered by insurance companies, other doctors, etc... If they have a sponsor they are biased for whoever sponsors them. It's not some big conspiracy theory, its how a capitalist society, like ours, works. The same goes for News and television channels, and the companies that buy ad time for the commercials.
