A NEW DISEASE

I think I have discovered a new disease in America.]
It is called DISEASE A PHOBIA.
The symtoms are changing natural act into a disease.
Here are some recorded cases.
At one time people got the the blues the treatment was quite simple you went to a party, you threw a party, you went shopping, you got drunk, you got laid
Today blues is a DISEASE called DEPRESION, TREATMENT; CHEMICALS
At one time kids had a temper tantrem treatment for this was a good smack across the backside or sending them to their room.
Today it's a DISEASE CALLED ad sydrom or something like that TREATMENT; CHEMICALS
At one time you didn't eat enough TREATMENT you were told eat or get sick and die
Today it is a DISEASE, TREATMENT; CHEMICALS
At one time people were fat treatment don't eat so much exercise or you will develope a heart conditon and die
Today people are overweight and it is a DISEASE, TREATMENT; CHEMICALS, ENERGY DRINKS, DIET PILLS.
Along with this cycle comes something known as bolumia {hope I spelled that right} this where somebody sticks their fingure down their throat to thow up anything they eat.
I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with this practise
However it is considered a DISEASE, treatment; well since they stick their fingure down thei throat to throw up WHO KNOWS?
I guess my real proof of DISEASE A PHOBIA came in a news clip I was watching.
According to news sources ADDICTION IS NOW A DISEASE THEY DIDN'T SAY ADDICTION TO WHAT JUST ADDICTION IS A DISEASE.
SO WHAT IF YOU'RE ADDICTED TO LOVE SHOULD YOU SEEK HELP?
What is you're addicted to helping your fellow Americans?
What if you're addicted to making a better world?
So I guess if you are breathing and can think a rational thought there's a high probibilty you HAVE A DISEASE.
So do you think DISEASE A PHOBIA has a chance with the American Medical Assotiation?
Gentlemen and ladies I await your comments or veiws on this subject.

Well, I think I understand what you are trying to say... except Anorexia and Bulimia are actual diseases (mental diseases) and generally you're not really... supposed to be given chemicals to cope with it. It's cured by dietary and mental help.
Major depression/Manic depression are also diseases and many times, if they are not regular old "blues" as you said... must be treated with chemicals because they are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain (between Serotonin and Melatonin).
I agree with the ADD and ADHD. I would venture to guess that most of the time the children are just acting like children... and adults, who don't have time for children to act like children nowadays, attempt to zombie them down to something manageable so they pump them full of drugs.
The others I don't really agree with as they are actual diseases... but the ADD and ADHD with the children is. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen that a child has ADD/ADHD... but there is no way I would be convinced that it happens as often as a child is "diagnosed" with it.

Addicted to love.... well.. that would depend on the type of love you are talking about, of course. ^_^

Although you make some good points, and I agree to some point.
Anroexia and even bulimmia are more than often aquainted with drugs.
Major depression\manic depression are not always caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.
You notice I did not mention mental illness.
There was at one time a very clear line between mental illness and Depression or as you said "old blues"
In todays soceity however the line has become blured.
example; If you feel bad go to thedoctor tell him you have depression he will write you out a prisciption for prozec or whatever with very few or some times no test at all.
And if this little pill makes you happy well?
My point is if we as a soceity are pinning names on natural reactions.will not Doctors of the future be somewhat confused as who really needs treatment and who don't, also what the right treatment to give?
As far as addiction to love any human being that is not addicted to love really needs mental help.
For after all, who has not seeked love in one form or the other?

We could cut their fingers off!

At one time people had smallpox they where told to get well quickly or they die.
Today it is a DISEASE, TREATMENT: VACCINE (CHEMICALS)

At one time people had the bubonic plague they where told to kill of the leppers, people with acne, psoriasis or jewish beliefs quickly or watch the entire neighbourhood go up in flames. (Another alternative was to launch a troop of flagellants in order to pay for the accumulated sins that obviously caused the disease).
Today it is a DISEASE, TREATMENT: VACCINE (CHEMICALS)

At one time people had something we apparantly call schizophrenia, they where either to be avioded since they had been touched by god or to be slain outright in order to stop the infection from spreading (Killing of some local jews or roma was probably also prescribed as this appears to have been a universal cure.)
Today it is a DISEASE, TREATMENT: CHEMICALS

Thank god for progress though, don`t you agree

I agree with you though on pretty much everything you commented on. Humans have gone through the ages with no need for all of these BS treatments. Basically we have turned into a bunch of pansies who want to bitch about everything and blame any discomfort on a "disease" that now, since we have drugs to sell to cure it, should be recognized ( oh sorry Oz, ...recognised) and treated in millions of people. I bet if we could bring Americans from 100 years ago to the here-and-now, and told them about all of our problems, they would laugh their ass off and then kick us all in the nuts.

Are any of the people in third world countries having any of these "disorders" that Americans are having?

Sure they are. Some of them are closely associated with western ideals and notions of beuty (like bulemia) others only become a problem when you are expected to sit still and concentrate (like ADD or other types of attention disorders) so these are problably not commonly diagnosed. Deppression, obesity, and mental or physical illnesesses that decrease your appetite are certainly existant (and have been existant throughout history). Of course, most people in the third world would not go to a doctor to get treatment because of these problems since they would not afford it (or have no access what so ever to health care of that type). Instead they just die.

I understand the drug companies are working on some new pills to cure two newer crisis' American males are having too.

A drug to stop that offensive plug of belly button lint.

and ...

A drug to stop that offensively long nostril hair that protrudes from ones nose.

I hear they shitcanned the drug that would cause Americans to realize they don't need a pill every time they have a hangnail, itch or fart though.

Maybe THAT will come out of a foreign country

I'm not sure what you mean. That they do drugs or that they are 'cured' by drugs? Anorexia and Bulimia are diseases in which the person suffering has a skewed mental perception of themselves and a need to be thin. They see themselves as fat and a number of other things and often feel that they need to be in control of the situation. It's often that you will find people with Anorexia and Bulimia have a sense that they have lost control in other aspects of their lives. Control of their weight is the one thing they cling on to. This isn't everyone, of course.. but a fair number.

Those are generally caused by a chemical imbalance. Of course you can feel majorly depressed without actually having Major Depression.. and Manic Depression (Bi-polar Disorder) is a chemical imbalance. People who are not treated who have this disorder don't get better on their own.[/quote]

And I do agree. The drug companies make a lot of money keeping Americans lazy, fat, and happy. We consume and consume and consume and then get bored and upset and any number of things because our lives as Americans are not about survival anymore.. they are about comfort. That gets boring. So people get all kinds of 'illnesses'. I would say they are legitimate illnesses for the most part... however, if the circumstances in this country were different.. they might not even show up. People fighting to survive and keep their families alive every day are not getting "too bored" and suffering from a "lack of purpose in life" which leads to depression. ^_^
