So long as the government is not paying for it with tax money I don't care.

WHY? You support the spending on weapons research, but not on anything that would save lives?

Because it's the governments job to protect it's boarders, it's not the governments job to provide health care.

LOL I know you didn't mean it that way, but I agree with you that it's government's job to protect its "boarders" (citizens). What better way than with quality, affordable healthcare?
Our borders are protected just fine. We have the most advanced (and expensive) military in the world. If our country were actually the shining beacon of freedom and opportunity we all like to pretend it is, we might be a lot safer from terrorist attacks.

No, I was poking fun that you spelled borders as "boarders", which means something entirely different.

Stem cell research is something that should be looked into, but equating weapons research to elevate our defense systems to giving health care, in a way of "protecting citizens"...I don't quite follow that. I agree that stem cell research would follow there MAYBE, but "affordable healthcare"? What would the government be 'protecting' the citizens from, I ask? Themselves? Seems a bit like a "we're doing this for your own good" government which I'll kindly do without.
