World Domination
First of all this is a completely rediculous idea to begin with. However, as we take a look through history, we will find people like the Romans, Napoleon, and Hitler to name a few who set out to conquer the world. Personally, I do not believe that violence can solve anything unless it is a last resort. But I was wondering if anyone believes that world domination is possible by a single country? Personally I do not believe that it is possible but I would love to hear and discuss your comments about it.

Weird but my other chat buddy head over heals bulldosez a plan of int'l order where no nation or person gets chance to rule World. If interested, I will procure link for English declaration of his, as to the issue - my own opinion is Nope, improbable 'cos impractical. And others' indifference to topic means same.

I don't think any authority of any kind whether it a country or an empire lasts forever, that is against the laws of nature and evolution. IMO The way nature seems to work, if we did have a perfectly peacful world we'd probably get hit by an asteroid

There is differences between rule, controll, and dominate. To dominate the world is possible. this does not mean that one country rule's the world, but that, through power, both military and economis, it can have a huge influence over the other countries (or known countries in the case of the Romans, Egyptians, etc.)

There will be a world government one day but not by war...not at first...it will be the same way European is being integrated and started...it will be an elite project of politicians and business heads who basically do it undemocratically and shirk popular thought...at the same time trying to build regional identity propaganda where there was none before.
This process will start in East/Southeast Asia in 2012 with ASEAN + 3, but it will take far longer due to greater diversity in culture and language than Europe.
Bush is deadset on not just NAFTA but a Hemisphere trade group...this type of group will start out economic, but there will need to be more legal integration to make it work...you get the picture...
I think there will be some nations not "down with the new world order" but by that time it won't matter...they will be economically incapable of saying no or will be facing a UN type (real) army making up a case to invade them.
I'm guessing this will all come down in about 500 more years...but there will be wars of resistance...that will cause short lived division. I"m 100% sure some nations are going to try to leave the EU at some point in the future and the EU will go to war over it...they will find their membership is no longer optional...similar to the Southern states of the U.S. in the civil war.

No. No single government can or ever will hold the entire world for a significant amount of time.

maybe, but people will try...trust me.
If you look at human political evolution.
Tribes, clans, city states, kingdoms, empires, then reduced to nation-states...now supranational trading blocs (EU being the most consolidated) there is a trend for larger and larger political groups in the last 10K years.

Try they may, but it will fail. I agree with an earlier post that nature does not seem to work that way.
