I think most of the aspect of america on the media are exaggerated
|
Probably. The Press likes stereotypes, it's easier to report stereotypes than go in-depth. And exaggeration sells stories.
I can't remember where it was, but I remember someone telling me that because the only thing people in his country saw of America was soaps like Dallas, they thought all Americans were incredibly rich and lived in mansions.

When it comes to the culture the US obviously share many things with Western Europa but some of your interests are really of distinctive character.
American football for example; Aren't you playing it with your hands, so why not call it handball instead? And football with ice hockey equipment? And of course I hate the word "soccer" and it's quite intresting that baseball and basket are common sports in US when they are in minority here.
Maybe I'm prejudiced but if I would describe the average american I would say that you are far to patriotic, ignorant and dont care/know anything about other countries but you still want to controll them. A popular movie clip here is when americans on the streets are going to point out countries they think are their governments next target. Probably just a joke but...
And then we have all your summons like flat-irons with warning labels that you have to take off the shirt before you are going to iron it. You have richer people than us but this behavior are so White Trash.
ps. My mothers grandfather was a settler in Minnesota back in the days (early 20th century).

Ignorant
White Trash
Don't know or care about anything
Want to control the world
What a depressing list of insults.
Does your prejudice come from experience? How long were you in the United States?
I read an insulting, offensive post like this and it just seems pointless to talk about anything to someone outside the US....

I find this hilarious, the title of the tread is 'Your views on americans', so it is how we view america from the outside. It isn't prejudice, it is how you are viewed.

Myself and friends of my generation of Australians have a low regard of Americans as a whole. This is further cemented by the present administration who are percieved as incompetent at the best or beholden to the institutions that put them in power at the worst.
ps my Generation is those born around the late 1930's early 40's.

So an entire generation of Australians are anti-American. Weird. How do you find the time for all that dislike? Life is too short for bigotry on that scale - what a waste. And it is your loss, not ours.

Having "low regard" isn't the same a bigotry. Attacks like, those that don't like us are bigots, are completely pointless and don't help anyone like you.

The general dislike of an entire nation? Yes - that is a reasonable definition of bigotry. You may defend it. Personally, I hold to the view that disliking people because of their nationality is unacceptable.

Having a dislike for someone simply because they are american is bigotry, but disliking america or americans as a whole based off of what you know, isn't.

What?
It sounds to me like you are playing with words. It's all the same thing.
