The heavy handed actions by the Chinese government in Tibet, just reinforces
peoples opinions about totalitarian governments.And they want to be host to the
Olympics?.A World host should not react in the manner that China is reacting in Tibet.

The Chinese government is just a bunch of amateurs. They need to learn to delude and manipulate the masses more effectively like America. I suggest we send Bush to China to help them out.

Well, the Tibetans were burning shops & mosques and attacking people with ceremonial swords and knives...I'm not sure how a government is suppose to react in that situation.

It's true that the PRC gov't is using heavy handed tactics...but they probably don't have an effective anti-riot squad equipped with non-lethal rubber bullets either...

I'm sure their support of Darfur will come to haunt them...just like how we funded the Taliban to overthrow the Soviets in the 80's...

I am not sure they are out of control in Tibet.They can easily start massacres in Tibet.I am pretty sure they as soon as they get rid of foreign mass media the PLA will start local hunt in Tibet.

yeah i also fear that if the riots keep on after the olympics when "all the eyes of the world look away from china" a mass genocide will start aginst the tibetans

out of control ? you are kidding me.why don't you come to china ,to tibit , see what happened by yourself? i am a chinese , my cousion was in lhasa , he saw the mob beat even kill the citizens , burn the shops, and 5 young girls are burnd to death. I want to ask you , if all these horrible things happend in london, paris ,or new york , what your government will do? sorry for my poor english.

If what you say had happened, what would probably happen in the UK would be this. There would be a distinction made between 'beat' and 'even kill' as they clearly are different. 'Even kill' sounds like imagination is being used. We do not use imagination on issues to do with life and death so people would know if someone had been killed or not. Obviously people guilty of murder are brought to court where they would probably be given an 'life sentence'. The average time a person in England and Wales stayed in jail for this in 1999 is 14.3 years.

The situation regarding the 5 young girls would follow the same procedure. If people were found to have deliberately burned to death 5 young girls, people would be totally repulsed about it and no doubt in this instance their prison sentence would be much longer.

The riots would probably take up full time viewing on our tv's and everyone of all political persuasion would be discussing what had happened and WHY it had happened.

Everyone would be talking about it openly with whatever their view was. People would be demanding that whatever gave rise to the riots was dealt with and no doubt we would have someone do a investigation into it, a report would be written on it and suggestions made for measures to sort the situation. This would all be made public and people would again freely voice their opinions on it.
