Chirac TV - France launches global news network

President Chiracs pet projekt of a global english language news channel reporting global news from a french perspective has now finally taken shape.
France 24 is supposed to battle CNN, BBC, and also AL-Jazeera.....

I'm surprised he's doing it in English... I think it's a good idea, currently you've got CNN, the Beeb and Al-Jazeera, and America and Britain aren't that different. Plus a lot of Al-Jazeera's presenters and journalists came from the Beeb.

Because this project is not basing on financial arguments but on "patriotic" ones. Or to define it better: political ones. Its not about earning money in first line but making the French perspective available for everyone who wants to see it, also when he does not speak French.

But its not impossible that it might succeed as well. Future will show.

As far as I am concerned, never seen a company that does not want to make benefits... even french one...

I did not doubt that its aim is to make benefits. But its not its first aim or the reason why Chirac was so for it. I mean Chirac definitely didn't have another tax payer in mind but something else.
