Turks Arrest Kurd For Hatred
Just wanted to see what the deal is with this story; I am sure there is more to it than is written.
ANKARA, Turkey, Feb. 23 -- A politician was charged Friday with inciting hatred and threatening public safety after suggesting that fellow Kurds would rise against the state and fight if Turkey ever attacked their Kurdish brethren in neighboring Iraq.
Police detained Hilmi Aydogdu, leader of the Democratic Society Party's branch in the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, as he left a conference and questioned him over the remarks, said Nazmi Gur, a party spokesman.
Prosecutors later formally arrested Aydogdu and charged him with threatening public safety by inciting racial enmity and hatred. The charge carries a maximum three-year prison sentence.
In remarks published in several newspapers, Aydogdu had warned Turkey against taking action in the oil-rich Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

Yes, and he arrested not sentenced yet. But he supported terrorism this way or other way... His speech is just like someone in US telling that "if you don't stop attacking to Al-Qaida, I will blow up Washington"

Ok I think I understand now. Would this be of interst? Have you seen anything on this meeting?
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's prime minister, has said that a series of meetings planned by Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan's president, for leaders of key Muslim Sunni states are not aimed at forging an alliance against Shia Iran.
Pakistan will host a meeting of foreign ministers from seven Muslim states in Islamabad on Sunday.
The ministers plan to discuss how to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and bring peace to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Media reports in the Arab world suggested, however, that Musharraf was aiming to establish up a Sunni alliance to confront the rising influence of Iran in the region.

Well, AKP is somehow eager for it. But most of turks don't wanna be a part of it.. press, opposition, military and secular institutions accuse Erdogan for spending effort on non-vital , non-national interests instead of focusing only on northern iraq, PKK and kirkuk.
