So if you don't understand a person language you're racist?

“Racist” Schoolgirl (14 yrs old) Arrested in al-Britannia
Quote:
A teenage schoolgirl was arrested by police for racism after refusing to sit with a group of Asian students because some of them did not speak English. Codie Stott’s family claim she was forced to spend three-and-a-half hours in a police cell after she was reported by her teachers. According to Codie, the five – four boys and a girl – then began talking in a language she didn't understand, thought to be Urdu, so she went to speak to the teacher.

“I said ‘I’m not being funny, but can I change groups because I can’t understand them?’ But she started shouting and screaming, saying ‘It’s racist, you’re going to get done by the police’.” Codie said she went outside to calm down where another teacher found her and, after speaking to her class teacher, put her in isolation for the rest of the day.

If you read the sources, you know that she was not not convicted of anything. The opposite was the case, she was freed from any accusation a as it seems unable teacher made.

The page you have linked, is furthermore not the most trustworthiest one. I only take that serious because they link real papers, (even though they are rather low niveau papers all together, aren't they?)
"The Brussels Journal" clearly follows an profound anti muslim line by fueling all kind of resentiments, if justified or not against them, while making not too much difference between moderates and extremists.

In their fear and hate of them they somehow remind me of our FPÖ.

My point wasn't that she was convicted of anything, it's the fact that what happened in the first place.

Maybe, but the article you posted here rather uncommentedly talked about a child being "arrested". Thats not true as it seems. She was interogated and the accusations were found to be wrong. End of story.

Having that said, I wonder really how the police has the right to take a 14 year old girl with them on the basis of some vague "racism" accusations.

Here it would be necessary to hear a Belgian on this. Its a pitty we have none here. Because those newssources (alltogether) dont really fall in the chapter totally trustworthy and never exagerating.

Perhaps you could find another source of a quality paper?

One says she was arrested the other says taken in for questioning (but you can be arrested and then released). Either way the school needs to send out some pink slips.

Well, one would need as I have said a bit more reliable source for that story. British tabloids are not exactly what I would call that, especially when writing about continental issues.

The story seems pretty straight forward to me.

Ok, if you do not post a reliable source, I have to do it:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...er/6047514.stm

Seems the very basics of the article of the Daily Mail is correct. I dont agree with that, to make that clear. But I dont see a far greater danger arising from gone out of controll Terrorism law that undermines the rule of law. Not to speak about what becomes more and more usual also in America.

I read about a case some time ago where a German designer living at the east coast, was taking the train to a near town (to get to an exhibition or so). Someone called him on the travel by phone. He had a German conversation and a passant heard that. Allthough speaking no German she (or maybe he, it doesnt matter) thought that the designer repeatedly said the word "bomb" in German. He did not, but that did not stop the incident to go its way. The passant contacted the police, the whole train was halted, the designer taken with the police to be interrogated for hours. It took 4-5 hours or so until they let him go again. And for what? Because a non German speaker thought she heard a random person saying in a language she does not understand, the word bomb.
