I really believe that european countries should be building bridges right now - it seems too many have been, if not burnt, then badly charred. I suppose that depends at least as much on the attitudes of the general public as well as the political leaders.
For what its worth, even though I'm a eurosceptic and would probably like to see the UK eventually leave the EU, I'd still like a strong european union (good mates, but not live in the same house...) and I reckon Turkey could be a valuable partner (provided Turkey's ok with that, of course

).
