I think that separation is not a salvation. Look at Yugoslavia - great country it was broken into little pieces and somebody wants to do it once more (I mean Kosovo). Have we got peace there? No! If people of one nation live in different countries it doesn't mean they have to create one new. as well as if different nations live in one counry it has to be divided into small pieces. According to 'afterIIWorldWar' UN documents borders couldn't be changed by any reason. We should remember it finally!
This problem has another salvation.

There are not more criminals there than in Czech Rep. And of course less than in Kosovo.
Your govs say that Kosovo in another case than Abchazia & South Osetia and it's true but not for the reason you think! Kosovo is a start of Serbia, the cradle of Serbian consciousness that some countries want to steal. Abchazia & South Osetia are not historical parts of Georgia. For example Osetia entered Russian Empire earlier than Georgia, later it was splitted to South and Northern (Northern Osetia is a part of Russia still).
Georgia oppresses people of Abchazia & South Osetia and it looks like genocide.
Have you ever been in Abchazia or South Osetia? If you come there now you'll find them destroyed. Who did it? Georgia! Georgia don't spend a cent to frepair ITS OWN territories (Abchazia & South Osetia). it increases a number of military units instead. It's closed for dialog.
Russian UN peacemakers in this conflict zone often meet with provocations by Georgian militaries. There were some arrests of our peacemakers. So, if anybody deals hostile there it is Georgia.
BUT we think that separation can only be available if both sides of the conflict are agree with that as in Abchazian & South Osetian problem as in Kosovo problem.

Generally speaking....

What SHOULD happen is that we should be decreasing those things which we disagree about -which would lead to greater unity. As we increase in knowledge, we SHOULD, logically, have less conflict due to increased agreement. However -it just doesn't happen that way. Instead, we are fragmenting all the more even within borders visible on present maps -not to mention any other marker of division. There is only one situation which we all share at any given time -yet we act as if the opposite is true. Though we are born new to all things (some disagree with even that), we should at least move toward unity over time and generations -but we seem unable -not to mention that some are simply unwilling. Knowledge may be increasing, but wisdom and common sense seem to have been misplaced.

Anyway -that's what SHOULD be happening -what WILL happen -who knows?

If we simply can't get along, we should separate. We'll run out of room soon -or maybe we'll make our maps larger and larger to squiggle in all the new borders as every new school of thought desires independence -but conflict is inevitable. Add to this the fact that the hurt of one generation is carried over to the next -and much forgiveness is in order -though always in short supply.

I don't think so. Not enough people wish to become independent there and the area is to small. And even if Norther Ireland did become and independent country I don't think they could sustain and economy or a military, and would probably go right back to Ireland.

Just wasted effort.
