On a side bar, my brother and I want to try making our own diesel. We're going to look into getting an old car to try it out on and see how it works till we get it right. The only reason is we want to save money. So... I guess it goes right back to the quote from the article.

Are you talking about the conversion to burning old frying oil? I have heard, but do know for sure, that the conversion to this is about $400.

From what I've heard, if the weather is warm you can strain old frying oil through a coffee filter and dump it directly in your diesel vehicle's fuel tank. If the weather is too cold, though, the lines will clog if you don't have a tank heater.

COOL! I do not know much about it other than a few storuies I have seen. I think Daryl Hanna is a big supporter of this tech.

I'm not so sure it is the US. I'm putting my money on Japan as the most "tech savvy".
