Your reaction is typical of most people when faced with the reality that a basic critical resource we have always take for granted cannot continually grow and that there is currently nothing that can fill the void it will leave. History teaches us that empires fall and civilizations fail. Science teaches us that fossil resources are finite. Mathmatics tells us that when you are extracting more oil than you are replacing with new discoveries that production must eventually decline. Common sense should tell us that we face a new world situation where we will be forced to adjust to less energy on a per capita basis and where life as we have known it will be forever changed. Denial will not erase reality.

Last time even try talking to your backward thinking ass. FYI all the technology we need to move on without oil is already there. . . Your desire to go back into a cave is shocking and probably the most offensive thing I've ever read.

You want to go backwards in standard of living? Good for you, leave me out of it.

We COULD switch o just solar and power everything. . .right now, its about willpower, and my willpower to stay out of a cave is much stronger then you're ability to reason for the end of man's advancement.

A slight pull back of travel due to oil costs is ok, but I get the feeling your talking about more, so my first conservation suggestion is that you turn off your PC.

Nothing would make me happier than for you to be right and me wrong. Realistically, however, I'm afraid it is the other way around. You migh want to consider the ancient wisedom; hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
