What Will Happen When Electricity is Gone?
What happens when we run out of electricity? What will we use?

Unfortunatly change, I can almost answer you. SA is going thru a very bad energy crisis, and most towns and citie are without power every second day for 2 to 6 hours.
But people adapt very quickly. It just comes at a very bad time, as, due to the oil problems, diesel and petrol is also VERY expensive right now, meaning that generators are to expensive to run.
Gas and candlesare back in fashion!

I was unaware of the fact that electrons were going to stop moving. Did you get this information from Scientific American?
As long as electrons move we will always have electricity. The only way that electricity will end is when the universe ends.
Of course it may cost more in the future but then again it might cost less too.

shiva if we are unable to harness electron movement in a certain form we wont have electricity.
Though really electron movement doesnt cause electricity, it just causes energy.

I hope you are right, but there are troubling signs with the electrical grid. The electrical infrastructure (lines, poles, switching stations, generators, etc.) is in need of a major overhaul. The total capacity is becoming stretched. Hydro driven generators are at risk due to droughts. Oil fired plants are being priced out of the market. Coal fired plants are also aging, and the price of coal is increasing. Nuclear power plants take decades to build. The demand for electricity has been increasing much faster than new plants can be brought into operation. All of these factors are placing an enormous strain on the system. A number of other countries are already experiencing severe shortages in electricity. It can - and eventually will - happen here.

My wife and I went seven years without electricity or indoor plumbing while living in the Alaska bush. There is no question that electrical power is a wonderous convience, but life can continue without it. Don't get me wrong, a major electrical breakdown would have enormous repercussions. In many ways, loss of electricity would be more traumatic than loss of gasoline.

We will always be able to harness the power of electricity as long as we have access to the most basic materials. We will run out of electricity when we are all dead, in that we won't harness it when we don't exist.
If the hydrocarbon fuels run out (which they will), we have many other sources that could be used. Solar, wind, tides, hydro electric, etc.
