This should be in the conspiracy theory thread since the OP lists no environmental issue to the absurd notion of running out of electricity.

Though really electron movement doesnt cause electricity, it just causes energy.
"If we are unable to" is absurd. We already have so what you are saying is "if we lose the ability to" and that is equally absurd. We are not going to suddenly forget all of the technology. Why not change the thread to "What happens when people forget all they know?"

By the way, I can generate electricity with a potato and electricity is a natural form of energy so nature would have to end before we lose it.

If the hydrocarbon fuels run out (which they will), we have many other sources that could be used. Solar, wind, tides, hydro electric, etc.
Hydrocarbons will neve run out either. The cost to drill or explore for the last remaining pockets will be to expensive for anybody to drill for and to bring to market, thereby insuring a replenshing of hydrocarbons over time.

Well, thats fine for you, but what keeps our economy running during the few million years while we wait for regeneration of the fossile fuels? Perhaps we should go back to stone age again, and when enough oil has been regenerated again we can fire it again in a few hundred years.

what will happen when electricity is gone

that was the question; correct?

i believe, and this is my feeling, that it would be gone because the last living person on the planet had just died and could not clean his solar panel, fix his windmill, repair his turbine driven by a stream or donkey or horse or llama, or bicycle, didn't fill up the tank in his generator, shut off the nuclear plant, couldn't split logs to fire the steam turbine etc etc etc

who cares as there will be nobody alive to need it

Wow, wow, wow there horsey.

By the time we get that low on fossil fuels we will have converted over to other forms or have enough other forms to make up the difference.

People need to come down on all this energy hysteria. Nobody is talking about going back to rock wheels and togas here.

the premise of this thread is a reality that will never occur. We already have methods other then these hydrocarbons that everyone thinks is evil to maintain power with.

Everyone wants a fix NOW! That is the mentality here. People need to come down and understand it is going to take time to get there. I just dont know if people have the patience to accept that. All the global warming hysteria is fueling is panic and psychosis, literally. That does no good.

Lets calm down and work the problem, not talk of moving back to the stone age b/c mankind wont do that. We are constantly inventing new technologies to make things better then before. Have a little faith for crying outloud. Its going to be ok. Electricity isnt going anywhere.....WE ARE!...lol.

Who said anything about global warming here? There are enough threads on this issue, if you want to talk about it, have a look at them.

Peak oil is no illusion it lies in the quite near future. That has nothing to do with hysteria but rather with serious predictions. Considering the time it takes for technologies to become mature and being established in sufficient dimensions the point to start adopting to other energy sources has already come. This process will take a long time anyway and not happen after night.

By playing on time you manage only to let your country fall back and give up the technological lead in one of the very key technological branches of the future.

We could switch to nuclear power generation anytime we want... and by the time the uranium becomes too costly (in about 500 years) we will have nuclear fusion and that will last for hundreds of millions of years.

So I'll start worrying about electricity running out in about a billion years.
