Keep in mind the prez is the commander in chief and the best the congress can do is a little pressure on him. I think they would have more success with other probs they see.

I wish I could believe it, but since they are politicians it is all bullshit. The only reason I could see Bush wanting to work with Pelosi is because he is not really a conservative.
This whole idea the dems have put forward about working together is bullshit. for the past few years they have done nothing but play petty politics and do their best not to work together, now that they are in power they say they are all about working together and not being partisan. What a crock of shit.

Am I the only one who thinks that the only thing that will do less than a Republican legislature who have lost focus and support of the Republican President is a Democrat held legislature (by a slim margin mind you) with a Republican President? There won't be new taxes. There might be a *little* change in Iraq, but I don't think even half the troops will be back for another 2 years at least. Nothing is going to happen and centrists will be ok with that, and Democrats will be ok with that, and we'll see where it goes from there.

All we are seeing at the moment is lip service and photo-ops. I do like the balance of power though.
Nancy and George have to learn to play together. Bush is like a spoiled kid who hates the idea of sharing.Pelosi suffers from penis envy. She wants everyones attention so she hollars at the top of her lungs to get it.
All this touchy-feely stuff isn't an indication of what we are about to see. The rubber-stamp policies have come to a screeching halt.We may actually see some meaningful debate of the issues.
If the Democrats pull this off and actually accomplish something, the 2008 election is theirs to lose. If they screw it up and end up in a battle royal with the Republicans, causing a stalemate, both sides get egg on their face. The Democrats will get branded as shit-disturbers, the Republicans get to blame somebody else for their shortfalls just like they have for 12 years , sending us back to square one with twice as many problems.
It should prove to be interesting.

I agree with the posts only time will prove either good or bad. Dems are looking to 08 and I think that will set their agenda.

They aren't going to work together any more than Muslims and Jews. They'll play it lip service for about 5 days, then you won't hear anything about it.
The only way bipartisan politics works is if one side agrees with the other.

Hey bug, did you hear about the a dem congressman, i didn't catch which one, saying that they would pass the fair tax, but only when they were in the majority. I'm sure you did since I think I heard it on Boortz. I hope the reps can jump on it before they do.
