Wal-Mart and its Employees
A national organization that claims Wal-Mart treats its workers unfairly held a prayer vigil Wednesday afternoon in Columbia and in more than 40 other U.S. cities
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) members, volunteers and residents prayed Wal-Mart would work to better its pay and health benefits by Christmas Day.
Any thoughts on Wal-Mart's employment tactics?

The same in the US. In my area most "associates" are part-time, that allows Wal-Mart not to give any benefits, other than the hours worked.

What? Walmart does not put a gun to anyone's head and make them work there. How much should someone get paid to stand there and say "hi, welcome to walmart?" I know that there are other jobs at Walmart but I believe that for a place that employs people with little to no "real" job skills they actually pay more than other employers. I think it's pretty shitty for these people to bitch at Walmart after Walmart has come in and created so many jobs and given these people a place to work, especially in rural areas where there would be alot fewer jobs without Walmart. If they don't like it they can quit and if they are stuck there because they are unemployable anywhere else, then it is their own fault.

Yeah, I blame the people in my area for taking the nly jobs that were oftered after the storm. There is a lot more to this than Wal-Mart's employment record.

Wal-mart's pay scales are competitive with other retail stores. Why people single out Wal-mart is beyond me. I think it has more to do with fear of imports than anything else.

I think the employee situation is exaggerated by special interest groups.
Judging from the employees at my local WalMart, I'd say a fair share of them are over paid.

Let's see, what was the guys name that ran for the office of president last election as a Democrat.... the pretty boy.... Crap. Now I can't think of his name.
Any way the idiot was at a book signing complaining about Wal-Mart, and how bad things are. Keep in mind that the book store he is visiting is worse, and the people that work there would be better off at a job with Wal-Mart.
