I am not sure how informed most people are on here about our economy, I simply am wondering what kind of economic state that you think we are in,
Is there still gold backing our dollar? is our ecnomomy being run by private banks?

Gold standard.

Don't take every thing as gospel in wikipedia but it will give you a general idea.

It is a good question. If you are doing well in the market then you will think economy is good; if you live in a project and can find adequate employment the economy sucks. It is all perspective.

Everything I have been reading suggests a slowdown.

Existing home sales are up, but they are selling for less.Durable goods are down.New home construction is down.Consumer confidence is down. Auto sales are down.If Christmas sales don't meet expectations, we may be off to a rough start next year.

The dollar seems to be slipping as well.

No, it's not perspective. It's either doing good or not. If you are living in the projects and can't find adequate employment right now, it's not because economy sucks. It is because you made some really stupid choices and now you are paying for them.

That's bull-shit. You base that comment on your outlook on welfare.

Not at all. It's just how things are.

Things either are or they aren't. Same with the economy. Just because someone didn't do well in school, or did something stupid and now has to live in the ghetto doesn't mean that the economy is in the tank.

It's not that simple superbug.

People in projects aren't the main factors of our economy .

chukels911 doesn't seem to know a lot about the economy and how it works. To tell him welfare is the root of all evil is misleading. You already have an evil thread going. That is where your comments should be about welfare IMO.

You missed the boat. I'm not talking about welfare or evil here at all. I was responding to Chuq's post. Go back and take another look and see if that clear things up.
