I'm for it to an extent. Only for very large amounts of money.

After a certain level (to support children whose parents die) I am very much for it. After all, the dead are the only tax payers who aren't inconvenienced by tax. It's better that other forms of tax, for that reason.

I'm against it. The guy might be dead, but it is still money that he earned. He should be able to give it to whoever he likes. The government will only squander it anyways.

Against it. It only effects the almost rich. The poor and middle class aren't effected by it. The very rich (the Hiltons, the Gates, the Kennedies and the Waltons) aren't effected--as they have ways around it

Using that same logic, whoever gets the money DIDN'T earn it. They aren't taxing the source, but rather the recipient.
It's like when you hit the lottery. A LOT of that is sucked out in tax, but you rarely hear widespread complaining about it.

Exactly. Which is why I support it. If people inherit enough, they can sit on their rich asses their whole life while contributing absolutely nothing to society. See Paris Hilton.

Yeah, but don't parents work to provide for their families? If they give it to their kids, that is what they are doing. Even if they give it to someone else, it is still their property. It would be like leaving someone a bike that they had.
To me anyways. Plus, as Thane said, Fuck the government.
