Male legal abortion
Under current laws a female can get an abortion or have a baby without the fathers consent either way. Legally, should the male be able to sue the woman that aborted a baby he wanted for some sort of emotional damages? Should the male be offered a legal abortion himself, legally severing any ties with the child? Making it so he is in no way responsible for the child. This does not infringe on her right to her body, she still has all the freedom of choice. This would, IMO, bring equal protection to males and females.

As for suing for emotional damages I am unsure. the Severing of legal rights does happen though. I have a cousin who is not biologically my uncle's son, His mother married my uncle shortly after he was born and my uncle adopted my cousin thus eliminating any responsibility the biological father had.

What about not having a replacement as such? Nobody adopting in place of, or the need to?

No. When he had sex with the woman, he gave his seed to her, knowing the possible consequences. Unfortunately, a man has no choices as regards child bearing and birth. That is simple the way it is. If he does not want to give that responsibility wholly to a woman, he can make the choice to keep to himself.

No. By the same token, when a man consents to have sex with a woman, he takes on the responsibility for helping to provide for any child that union might create.
However, if he wants no financial or legal responsibility for a child, he should get the woman to sign a legal contract beforehand to absolve himself of any responsibility. I would support that 100%.

Although I guess I can see that cutting down on the deadbeat dads of the nation. It would let a woman know that the guy is an irresponsible prick!!!!

Biology makes it so the man can not give birth, but without the genetic material offered by the sperm the child would not have ever existed. Legally the genetic material is half his, why does he have no claim on the lost "property?"

Did she not offer her egg up? Why is the door swing only one way? If the mother has the right to terminate responsibility financially, where is the equal protection?

How romantic. Could it come in a small florist card size so it could be included in a bouquet?

Under your definitions, no father bears any responsibility for the child when it is born, and thus shouldn't owe child support or anything should he choose to leave the picture. No contract would be necessary.
If the father has no rights to the life of the baby before it is born, why all of a sudden does he bear responsibility when it is born?
I think both parents bear responsibility and should have some rights.

I wonder of this often, as ithappend to afriend of mine, who would've been (and now is) a great father. He's girlfriend got pregnant, and left him shortly after. She had an abortion, even tho he begged her not to, as he would raise the child in his own.
In SA the law states that a woman ca not put her child up for adoption without consent of the father (he can not stop her, but he can delay, so the court must make a decision) and that he must have first opertunity to adop the child if Social Services clears him. But a women can have an adoption without the father's consent.
I understand the issue surrounding the womens right to her body, and there are no rights to genes (yet a mother can sue a father for child support, because of genes), it is all a very difficult question indeed
