Porn on the internet

This is especially for the women but I don't mind hearing the men's opinions too.
How do you feel about the porn that is freely distributed, for/against?
How do you feel about pornography in general?
Have you ever been embarrassed to open an email from a friend with you boss looking over your shoulder?
OK this is for the men, how do you feel about other men sending 'dirty pictures' to your wife/girlfriend?
Is there anything wrong about brothers and sisters exchanging porn with each other?
I'm trying to gauge a feeling here. To see whether values towards porn have changed and if being broad-minded means that you also don't mind being embarrassed by some of the raw stuff out there.
Comments and replies please.

I'm not a big porno fan, but if someone wants to see that stuff, so be it.

Sisters and brothers sharing and sending each other porn? Sounds kinda perv to me.

Taking away a freedom is never a good thing, unless it's hurting someone. As long as the porn is legal, I see no problem with its existance. As long as people keep it to themselves, who cares?

And if some dude sent a dirty picture to my wife I'd hunt him down and knock his head clean off his shoulders. I'd expect any man to do the same to me if I sent their wife dirty pics.

I personally don't like it, but if others want to view it, I have no gripe. I would like to get it more into to stores and paysites, and off of freesites that youngsters can easily view.

I'll give you an example. In sixth grade, when I first began using the internet (I was a late bloomer, I know), I had to do a report on Egypt and I went to egypt.com (I might of misspelled it at the time) and it went strait to a free pornsite. I was very embaressed concidering this happened in the middle of class in the school library.

Yes it is a very difficult thing with children.
Unfortunately like all forbidden fruit it is very tasty to youngsters and if they can't get it they make their own. Cellphones with video capability and a few obliging friends and you have your own studio.
It is better to talk about it and coming from a man that it is degrading and insulting to women and to especially use it as part of sex education with children, will help to change attitudes.
I was just asking some questions about attitudes, to gauge where they are today, things change so quickly, its difficult to keep up with the trends.

Sorry for getting off topic. I don't know what it was like long ago, except for what they say on the history channel. But today, it is very accepted in the US culture. Many parents want to concider themselves "modern," by not doing things that there kids might think as "old fashion" or "uncool," porn is near the top of the list for those parents.

Are you saying that by corrupting their children and allowing them to have access to porn they hope to gain the child's respect and friendship?

I think that Pornography on the net is a bad thing, or indeed porn in general. There is of course an issue as to how enforceable it would be to ban it, but I certainly don't think it's okay. The reason is that modern western society increasingly sexualises women. It doesn't say that women are stupid, as our culture used to say, but it does say that their intelligence, personality, and so forth is far less important than the sexual appeal of their bodies. I believe this is poisonous to society, both to women's self-image and goals and men's interactions with women, and that it is aggravated by things like pornography.

I'm not implying the word "corruption," but yes, parents do let them do things in an attempt to be "cool," they remember how much they (as the hippies in the 60's and 70's) hated how their parents for trying to control them, so they don't tell their kids about what they think is right and wrong.

Exactly what I think.
When girls see themselves as sex objects before they see themselves as sentient beings, then pornography is what comes next. It's the whole culture of sexualising girls at a young age that causes them to get this way, it's the cutesy little outfits and the beauty pageants and the make up and dressing up - all go towards making them aware of their sexuality.
Oregon was asking about 'long ago' I can only tell you about when I was growing up with older sisters in the 50s and 60s.
For instance: women wore nylon stockings, not tights (or pantyhose we call them) and no woman ever went out without her stockings and stiletto heels. Little girls wore ankle socks and flat shoes - I think you cal the Mary Janes? and we wore those until we were 16. Turning 16 was a big deal, you were given your first pair of stockings and shoes with tiny heels about an inch. In my mother's day, only loose women overtly made up their faces, my mother used face powder and lipstick but nothing else. By the time I was 16 I had already gone beyond face powder and lipstick, my older sisters had plucked my eyebrows and taught me how to wear eye make-up but not so that my father could see it. If he saw eye-shadow on one of us before we were 18 all hell would break loose.
Then dating. I was allowed to go out with a 'friend' not a boyfriend only after I had graduated high school and then only once a month until 10 p.m. Of course I broke curfew and had lots of dates with girlfriends but I had one official date a month. That was until 20 then I could go out but I still had to be home at midnight.
All of these limits worked towards keeping us sexless for a lot longer. I didn't know a thing about sex until I was 18. I didn't need to know because only brides had to know according to my parents.
Whether bringing back these sorts of restrictions with children would reduce all the sex that's around them these days, I wouldn't know. Luckily I didn't have girls, boys are different. But I do think they are sexualised far too early and that is a large part of the problem.
