What is your stance on the Patriot Act?
Are you for it or against? I am against it. I mean yes you should be a little scared of terrosits attacks, but don't give up your rights because of it.

I didn't vote because I agree with aspects of it, but not 100%. You should have given more choices.

If it strengthens our national security then I agree with it.

I stand with my feet about shoulder width, my fly down, and just behind it so I can have a good aim at it.

So you'd agree with constantly monitoring every action and word of every citizen, including you and your family? You'd support a regime reminiscent of that in Orwell's 1984? Actions such as those would certainly "strengthen our national security", but they are not worth the sacrifice of our basic American freedoms.

They actually don't strengthen national security.
The security of the nation is defined as and by the constitution.
It destroys national security.
It is a national threat as are the patriot act supporters.

I doubt that scenario would be necessary or technically viable.

No, but I support the Patriot Act if it enhances national security.

But would you support it if it were?

My questions basically boil down to this:
Would you really support anything that strengthened national security, regardless of how much freedom we'd have to sacrifice?

Are you kidding? If the government knew where everybody was and what everybody was doing, if they were omniscient and omnipresent, crime and terrorism would be virtually nonexistent. Unfortunately, so would freedom. But suggesting that taking such measures wouldn't strengthen national security is delusional.

No, as I've said, I support the Patriot Act and its protections.
