Exactly correct, you never controlled who you fell for or were attracted to, but you did control whether or not you acted upon it.
This is why heterosexual people can do homosexual acts because it is not a pre-requisite to have attraction to do the act (though, i will add for men at least, there is a difference between giving and taking).
