It is THE language of science, aviation, computing, diplomacy, and tourism. It is the official or co official language of over 45 countries, compared to 27 for French, 20 for Spanish, and 17 for Arabic. Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more people, but English is now the most widespread of the world's languages. Half of all business deals are conducted in English, 2/3 of all scientific papers are written in English. Over 70% of all posts/mail is written and addressed in English. Most international tourism, aviation and diplomacy is conducted in English. Aren't we English speakers lucky. Lots of jobs around the world teaching English, the most useful and desired word language.

My relatives didn't ask for this, I did. It is not abuse of our legal system. That's as silly an argument as stating that a handicapped person is abusing the legal system because the state capitol building didn't build a ramp for him. Idiot. Sometimes I have to wonder what womb you losers came out of.

We should make be able to read and write in English at a fourth grade level a prerequisite for all adult immigrants to get a green card. Then maybe we won't have to deal with these whiners.

Why do I need to? The federal government is already on my side. The only ones that are going to be crying are people like you saying "BULLSHIT!" and the state of oklahoma, when they find out federal funding will be cut to the Department of Public Safety. Furthermore, after English Only passes here in OK, I'm going to move to have all federal funding cut. We'll see who gives in first.

Who says we're whining? A complaint hardly=whine. I'm only trying to have oklahoma scream like a little girl when they find out they will have lost federal funding. My relatives have already gotten their licenses, so I couldn't care less how long it takes. It's also to prove to english only losers that ignoring federal law, the 14th amendment, and Title VI to the civil rights act of 1964 can you get you in trouble. Loss of federal funding sounds fine to me, how about you?

good luck making oklahoma scream like a little girl. for some reason i don't think they're afraid of you.
the 14th ammendment ensures rights under the law for all US citizens. you have to interpret that pretty loosely to claim discrimination in this case.
if reading english is such an obstacle then, yeah, maybe they shouldn't be driving. all their signs, laws, registrations, and insurances are going to be in english. not to mention the traffic cops they may need to interact with. or is the state supposed to make every cop learn farsi?
if reading english isn't an obstacle, then i feel sorry for your family that they've been dragged into your little crusade. after all, you said they already have their licenses. which either means the state gave in, or the language barrier wasn't that big a deal to begin with, and you're just looking for attention.
either way, good luck with your 'complaint'. it sounds like you've put a lot of thought into it.
