Mail no longer private

With a few strokes of Bush's pen, current administration removed yet another civil liberty from the dwindling right to privacy.

~In yet another of his infamous "signing statements" attached to a routine piece of postal legislation, Bush said his administration would twist the law to allow "in a manner consistent, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances."

That means the feds can open your mail and mine, without a warrant, simply because Bush has decided he has the power to do so.~

Capitol Hill Blue: Ding! You've got mail! No you don't. Bush has got your mail...and he's reading it!

Sounds to me like the dictatorship is gathering steam for who knows what.

We are headed down a slippery slope with this latest infringment. Unless people wake up and recognize what danger Bush poses to our basic rights to privacy there is no telling where this neocon mentality will end.

Land of the Free. This is seriously getting out of hand. But not enough people care or even know what is going on here.

I suppose it will be okay for them to install cameras and tv monitors in our homes next. I mean... if you're got nothing to hide then there shouldn't be a problem, right?
Funny....... I was born in 1984.

Offer the general public false safety wrapped in a flag and they'll give up anything to follow that impossible promise as long as it doesn't interrupt their TV viewing.

That's why most politicians never use the mail or put anything in writing. If you're planning a capital crime, study political strategies.

What is it that makes you think your slippery slope argument is more applicable to THIS case than to OTHER kinds of cases/arguments ?

In general the slippery slope argument is dismissed. It will be HERE as well. I'd suggest not using it is all. Just letting you know how it is usually dealt with :-)

Dismissed off handedly because it's inconvenient to DEAL with.

In MY opinion this is the LEAST of our worries with shrub. He has been a supreme fakir, just like Clinton was. Just like Clinton, has abilities at this got him elected twice. Besides the fact that he was running against bozo the clown the second go 'round of course.
