It was time for a change.Bolton didn't seem to have much support plus it was only a temporary appointment. His skills seemed to have a lot to be desired.

CNN and BBC are reporting that he did not have the support to win a new confirmation. I believe it is called cut and run.

Well it sucks that they don't have the balls to send Bolton to the UN. I hate to see him go.

So Bush didn't do the wrong thing and try to push Bolton through. That's a good thing.

Actually, I find it strange. I kind of feel bad that Bolton's going. After seeing him come down so hard on North Korea and stay after Iran, I feel bad that we will be losing someone who so vigorously fights our enemies who constantly resort to diplomatic bullshit tactics.
What? You feel bad for this scumbag?

Bolton was to achieve exactly nothing for the cause of America, someone with such an obvious lack of diplomatic skills is like an elephant in a glasshouse.

I mean blocking everything is not a special skill you have to train someone for. Every school kid can do this. At the UN you need skills negotiating with others, finding compromises or change the opinion of others through dialogue. Everything of that list is pretty much belonging to what Bolton does NOT stand for.

He might be able to bitch at your enemies. The problem is they dont care about this nothing Bolton, but when you would have to mobilize your allies Bolton is the so totally unable you have to be glad, he does not make more damage than good. there.

I am sure the world sees it as good news that Bolton will be soon history. Its exactly men like him that ruin the reputation of the US in the world. Not only at the enemy countries, but mostly at the countries that are considered to be your allies.

He did seem to do a good job with Korea.

Well the Lebanese opposition certainly does. Our government lives by what Bolton tells them to do and he supports them a lot in the passing of UN resolutions that serve their interests. THEY GET EVERYTHING THEY WANT FROM THE UN WHEN THEY NEED A BOOST INSIDE LEBANON, IE WHENEVER THEY ARE LOOSING GROUND. And all because of Bolton.

I am really glad he's gone. It is another loss for our government. The problem is, the gov refuses to admit it has lost, so let's hope we don't get more trouble out of this.

Why do you think this has much to do with Bolton and not with the general American policy? Its of great interest for the US to prevent the pro Syrian powers and especially Hezbollah from getting even stronger in Lebanon. Independantly from what a UN ambassador says or does.

I don't think the American position will change in any way towards Lebanon just because Bolton will go.

PS:
You are christian, aren't you? Can you tell me if the Lebanese Christians in general do oppose the government. And if so, do they support the pro Syrian forces? And if so, in how far Hezbollah?

Or is it not possible to generalize the Christian group in that way?

I am glad to see him go, good riddance!

An embarrassment to the US, he is.
