Firstly, have a look for yourself: http://www.usandworldpolitics.com/fo...hp?do=getdaily

That's a link to all the threads that have been posted on in the past 24 hours.

There are several threads there that are critical of Bush's foreign policy, which is what I think Rak is really complaining about. However, if you look at that list of threads, there's only a handful of threads that are critical of Bush's foreign policy.

If the criticism is that "everything is bad" well of course. No one wants to talk about what's going well. People are more interested in problems and dilemmas. I was thinking about posting a story on how China's economy was still going strong, but then I said to myself "OK, so what, what is there to say about that?" Good. China's economy is growing. Great. What do you want to say about a story with good news? Not much.

However, I'll open the floor to discussion here. The elephant in the room is that CHUQ starts a lot of threads on this board. I find it very helpful as it stirs the pot. However, there could be problems with one person initiating such a large portion of the discussion.

So, OK, have your say, what do you think of the tone of the discussions here on this forum?

WEB
My perception is that it's right about in the middle.

That's probably because I'm generally focusing on issues and posters that interest me right now. I HAVE started a few threads of my own too.

I don't know. Just my current perception, I'm sure that'll change around at times.

I'm not a fan of these discussions.

I don't really know anyone here very well so I'm not sure if there is a problem.

In regards to CHUQ's posts, threads, whatever, I don't find much fault with them other than sometimes there is a bit too much information to process, but I don't consider it a big deal.

It usually provides an insight to his comments.

The threads that I post in seem to have a fair mix of opinions. It's always going to be a struggle to keep a balanced between Liberals and Conservatives. From what I gather there is a good mix of Libertarians thrown in.That's something you don't find on a lot of forums.

I support CHUQs approach.

Like anywhere else, the tone of the forum is the mood of the members. This isn't the "I love my Honda" forum or something and NOBODY is going to post "gee, everything sure is peachy keen in the world".

There are forums for the right, the far right as well as the left and far left. This one is pretty middling yet left leaning IMO.

You began the thread and that usually means you have more of a point than this being some left wing forum. Out with it, Rak. What's your point?

Considering this seems to be the only thread you have started, maybe we need to hear from a Conservative.

I think he heard WEB was giving bonuses to thread starters and wanted in.

And seriously, I don't think "breaking headlines" is the venue for this kind of thread anyway.

I start a lot of threads because the world around you will bite you in the ass if you do not know it is coming at you full speed. I hope that I provoke thought and the formation of an opinion. I am interested in the world and its events and any conflict will eventually involve the US and if you know of it beforehand then FOX and CNN cannot surprise you.

You are right (pun?) I am not a conserv or even a middle roader and for that reason when I see this policy or that I ask where and who does it benefit, nothing is done without a reason especially in international policy.

I have no prob with anyone disgreeing with me and I will say what I think and defend it and on the same hand I will be respect one's opinion. I try not to attack the opinion or the person.

And as far as these being to left, I disagree; I see it as more middle of the road, nothing on any of these threads leads me to believe there are "leftist" on this board.
