War crimes suit against Rumsfeld filed in Germany
An international coalition of human rights groups, also from the US has filed a lawsuit against outgoing US- defense secretary Rumsfeld at the office of the federal prosecutor in Karlsruhe/ Germany. They call on the prosecutor to investigate the responsibility of high ranking US- officials for war crimes and torture in Iraq. They act on behalf of Iraqi citizens who were held at Abu Ghureib and one former Guantanamo detainee..

The sad thing is the Pinochet case apparently
has set a precendent. Let us hope we can find

The coalition, led by the New York-based civil rights group Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), filed a criminal complaint against Rumsfeld on Tuesday at the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe, Germany. The complaint calls on the prosecutor to investigate whether high-ranking US officials authorized war crimes in the context of the war on terror.

Even if they can actually get the paperwork going, nothing will come of it. Worst case scenario (or best depending on your view) Rumsfeld is held civilly responsible and he can just ignore the judgement without any fear of recourse.

Hm, I would guess the best case scenario (from a liberal side of view ) is that Rumsfeld should not dare to enter the EU anymore, or he would be busted. But otherwise he can ignore it.

Ok, I dont think he has this strong aim to come to Europe anyway
