Could The Us Really Be Out In 18 Months?
An article about the news conference that said the Iraq could be ready to assume some control over security in 12 to 188 months.

Is this realistic?

If they decided to start hitting the insurgency harder and the Iraqi government grew a pair and started really taking care of business they might be able to.

If you can take a 19 yr old and in about 12 weeks turn him into a soldier and send him to a possible death, why does it take 4 yrs to have an Iraqi soldier?

I'm not saying this to be a dick, but someone I know who has been over there said that the only "good" ones were the Khurds. He said that they are the only ones who don't always seem like they are trying to stab you in the back. I guess he meant the only ones who acted like they were sincere, and not suspicious.

I could imagine how they are different though. I know another guy who was a friend of my father's. He said that in Egypt, he asked a guy where he was and the guy kept saying "here." He would ask where is here and the guy would respond, "what do you mean? Here is here..... you are here." I think that those people are on a whole different wave length than we are.
