ICC's first case starts

There are a few cases pending, but in one of them, the accused person was arrested a short time ago. Its Thomas Lubanga, the former leader of the Union of Congolese Patriots militia in Ituri in Congo. He is accused of "conscripting and enlisting children under the age of fifteen years and using them to participate actively in hostilities"

He is the first to be tried in front of the ICC for war crimes.

A good moment to point out once again in what good company the US and Japan are:

Of course. It would be silly to subject yourself to a court that might actually convict you if you could avoid it by pretending it doesn't exist.

Of course. I mean how silly can one be, especially the US, to sign a treaty that would force people to face a trial at a foreign court when they are committing stuff like genocid, using child soldiers, mass murder and similar AND the American courts refuse to take care of the accusations.

At least one thing you have in common with your foes in the ME. They dont like the idea neither.

It gets' worse, I believe you are aware that the US cut funding to nations that support this court? (I am looking for the link tho this, I have it somewhere). This caused a huge diplomatic fight over here

I know, the US actively worked on forcing especially the smaller nations of this world to oppose the court. For this sake they promised and threatened.

They did not even make halt in front of the back than not yet EU members in the east. That lead to major diplomatic tensions between the EU and the US. Thats not the nice way to undermine the politics of the EU on its own territory. As far as I can see at least in Europe it did not really help the US though.

The founder of the Nürnberg trials is really in a bad shape...
