This is a pretty good story and would like your input.

Israel probably violated the terms of its arms deals with Washington by using US-made cluster bombs in Lebanon last year, a US government report says.

The state department looked into Israel's use of cluster bombs in civilian areas of southern Lebanon during its conflict with Hezbollah.

US-made weapons are sold to the Israeli military with restriction on their use.

Any consequences to expect out of that? Rather not I guess though.

Actuall the UN issued a similar report in Nov but the assassination took its place in the headlines. The only reason I see it being released now is that the govt of Olmert is having probs and the US is looking for new friends in the Israeli govt and among the Arabs. It is all about the timing.

Another story to go along with the cluster one. Some will dispute to source, but unfortunately it was a British study not Syeian.

British researcher Grace Bisbey has unveiled that Israel used the enriched Uranium in its latest war on Lebanon, warning against the dangerous repercussions on the inhabitants of the targeted areas.

Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel Tuesday quoted Bisbey as saying that the outcome of the examination he made on samples of the soil taken immediately after the end of the Israeli war on Lebanon showed that the samples didn’t contain the depleted Uranium but contained enrich uranium

Washington's conclusion that Israel likely misused American-made cluster bombs by firing them at civilian areas in Lebanon has brought new pressure on Israel to review its wartime practices.

But it probably won't hurt US-Israeli relations in the long run, officials and analysts said Tuesday, citing the countries' close military ties and shared interests.

Cluster bombs spray bomblets over a wide area, and Israel's use of them in its war against Hizbullah guerrillas last summer has provoked uproar because they were fired into civilian areas. Israel has said Hizbullah guerrillas used the areas for cover to launch rockets at Israel.
