Cyclone Nargis -vs- Hurricane Katrina

Myanmar had as much time to let its people know about the storm as the U.S. did about Katrina. I think this is what it looks like when a country really does not care about its people. Those in N.O. had a chance to get out, these poor people did not even know what was coming.

I'm sure some will jump in and blame Bush for leaving people behind during Katrina.

I've never been to what was called Burma but can't imagine that the infrastructure is established. it is sad that in this day and age, a country can be so backward that people aren't informed about a (typhoon, cyclone, hurricane)

Estimates over 22k dead, thousands missing

WTF.......what type of government would not warn their people? There is way too much debate about Oprahma, anti-US sentiment etc etc. Over 22,000 people needlessly dead!!! This isn't muslim extremists with planes or bombs; it's a government that didn't warn its people. An absolute outrage and as of this post, still won't allow the USA into the country to help.

Sadly, this too shall slide slowly away into obscurity as opposed to the UN and other bodies demanding an investigation. The world cannot afford such a loss of life again that could have been avoided.
