Tips on making plots in novels

I figured this would fit in here since it was a book thread.

Here's the deal: not too long ago I had my first book published in my series, which is called The Wild Animals. The whole series is about an ongoing war between animals and humans a.k.a man vs beast and I introduce it in the first book. My problem is I want for the war to get worse with each book but at the same time try to invoke the "protect our natural world" lesson as well.

Any ideas on how to make this work? Help would be useful.

The heroes/heroines are animals.

Humans are the bad guys.

Sex always sells. You need a sub-plot that squeezes that in. With some curvy humans.

Most of the best sellers seem to have curvy heoines from time to time.

Have the animals conspire to do a turnabout on the humans. The animals can pollute the domain of the humans or damage their infrastructure in some way.

Make the animals into "freedom fighters" but give them the zeal of terrorists.

I need to be able to carry that zeal through the whole five-part series. And the humans would technically be the terrorists since they either kill the animals or force them into slavery for mankind.

I just went on the small clue you left about the "natural world". I envisioned an ongoing struggle by the animals against the superior forces of the humans (they have the guns). Maybe each book would have a specific environmental thrust that the beasties could deal with.
Humans don't easily learn lessons and the animals could give them the requisite kick in the ass to wake them up.

Just a thought. I'll look for the title at Borders next time I'm there.

Wow, congratulations on being a published author. I'd like to write someday. I always have all kinds of ideas in my head, but I don't ever write them down and I don't really have time to sit and work out the details.
