Thumbs up Barbarians II on the History International Channel tonite
This is a mini-series (each one an hour long) that focuses on a certain barbarian tribe as it overran late-Imperial Rome. The Vandals, Goths, Huns, Lombards and others. This comes on at 8PM EST.


8PM EST Vandals
9PM Saxons
10PM Franks
11PM Lombards

Repeats again from 12AM midnight to 4AM Tuesday morning.


Sorry for not giving you guys more advance warning on this. Been busy.

Don't have that channel unfortunately...
It is a very interesting area of history however. Such strange things happened with these tribes. Take the Vandals for example. At one point they were savage pagans who lived in Germany. A few hundred years later they were the aristocratic Christian rulers of Spain and North Africa.

I get them mixed up sometimes. I remember that some barbarians had gone round from Germany to Spain, through Carthage, and kicked some serious Roman ass. They sacked Rome and destroyed a huge armada from the Byzantine empire. Really an amazing rout.

Just watched a bit of the Saxons, but it's only 8:30. Maybe it's on more than once. Fascinating, Vortigern gave away a stack of land just to marry the woman of his choice...sigh...
Wasn't he supposed to be around during Arthurian period? Or just preceding him?
