That is a scary story, especially when you think about it, it could actually happen. I know the virus begins different in the book but in the movie is starts because of one person making a mistake in the cure for cancer, that is a reason not to play with Science.

I've only seen the movie, and it was just another zombie movie. I liked 28 Weeks Later better. I think the most unrealistic thing about these movies is how those infected with the virus take on some sort of superhuman qualities, like being able to tear roofs apart in the I am Legend movie.
I don't see why we should abandon science on the off-chance it could create something bad. The movies and books on it clearly exaggerate the risks.

Lol a virus that causes 'zombiefacation' like in "I Am Legend" and "28 Hours Later" is only possible in science fiction. And Change, science exists to be played with, do you think we could have ever dreamed of nuclear power if Madam Curie hadn't played with radiation? How long would it have taken us to figure out that lightning is actually electricity if Ben Franklin wasn't playing around with a key and a kite?
There are only 2 limitations to the expansion of science, morality, if a scientist won't do the experiment becuase of moral issues then the science cannot continue, and physicality, like you can't do the experiment because it could blow up the lab, or perfect conditions can not be created at the moment.

Yeah, the idea of zombies ever becoming real is chalk full of paradoxes, i can think of a few off the top of my head.
1) When things die thier muscles and organs immediently begin to deteriarate (get weaker) but how is it possible that zombies (being dead) can have super hearing, the strenght of 10 men, and jump dozens a meters in a single jump.
2) In most movies when a zombie gets a hold of a person, the zombie rips that person to shreds in order to feed, well if every victem of a zombie attack is ripped apart into bits and pieces then how do zombies multiply?
3) Also thier ability to moan (a reference to #1) if thier organs are no londer functional then how are thier lungs and vocal chords still working? It is highly unlikely that zombies have any real form of commnication because they are technically brain dead (no tellepathy) thier vocies don't work in a command style give order way (no verbal commnication) and since they all mope around moaning with thier hands down they cant really give off hand signals. So if they can't communicate then how do they maintain such an efficient pack mentality?

The thing I liked best about the book as opposed to the movie was the ending. When Neville realises the roles have been reversed, that the vampires were becoming "normal" people, and that he has become just as much a horrific figure of terror and evil to them as vampires were to human society.

I think with globalization, a deadly pandemic is certainly possible. I suppose a virus could make people aggressive, but most likely it would just make them lethargic. Somebody infected with a deadly virus would be weaker than, not stronger than, a healthy person.

That sounds much better than the movie.
IF YOU INTEND TO WATCH THE MOVIE DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS POST...
What, he doesn't stupidly rush a bunch of them with a grenade in the book - with Will Smith dying as some sort of Jesus figure..? As if rushing them with a grenade would actually kill them all. It accomplished nothing. That had to be the worst possible ending. I'd rather they just all get eaten than that cheesy crap.
