What's your take on this? I'm glad he's finally getting out, it would have been torture to endure Guantanemo for 5 long years, i mean, Yatala would have been a walk in the park in comparison. In all seriousness, i would also nominate his father, Terry Hicks, for Australian of the Year Award for 5 long years of campaigning for justice and a trial for his son, whether he's guilty or not.

Ridiculous, put him right back in unless he has shown that he has changed his ways and won't go right back to being an al-Qaeda thug. This man was a fighter for the Taliban and provided intelligence for them, most likely about the Australian government, your government. Maybe you are in support of that, however, I do not like individuals like that roaming around freely.

Provided intelligence about our government? Ha, what intelligence about our government could he have given, he wasn't an Aussie Spy, he didn't work for our secret service, AFP or SAS, what intel could he have given that isn't readily available on the internet?

And, as a side note, i do not support terrorism but what the America government did to him doesn't deserve praise either.

Unfortunately for we in Australia we did have a thing called habeus corpus which rightly or wrongly protected the innocent from imprisoment without charge .Apperently the same kind of law existed in the US that's why they have offshore places that don't have it.I suppose innocent until proven guilty is inconvenient to the guardians of freedom . It's a bit of a bastard when you have to curtail the very freedoms you are trying to protect .Hmmm....
