Chaser face new investigation

Source: SBS - WORLD NEWS AUSTRALIA

Quote:
The team from the ABC's satirical comedy The Chaser's War on Everything have again attracted police attention, this time for delivering a suspicious ticking package to a business.

In the skit, a Chaser cast member posing as a delivery man takes a ticking package into Energy Australia's Sydney office where he asks a worker to sign for the item.

"Police received a complaint from a business regarding an attempt to leave a suspect package at a location in the city and are investigating to determine if a criminal offence occurred," a NSW Police Force spokesman says.

Footage sparked complaint

The spokesman says footage of the event which sparked the complaint had not been broadcast by ABC, although a similar skit involving a ticking package was aired on the program.

"We have sought and received assistance from the ABC," the spokesman says.

The Chaser crew has defended the act, which occurred during the filming of this week's show.

"The Chaser chose the loudest and most deliberately comical ticking to ensure that the people involved in the filming could not think it was any real threat," a Chaser statement obtained by the Nine Network says.

Serious to police

However, NSW Police Minister David Campbell says the matter is not to be treated lightly.

"In these days of global terrorism the community expects the police to respond to potential threats," Mr Campbell told the Nine Network.

The Chaser team is already facing criminal charges stemming from a stunt during last month's APEC conference.

Breach of APEC security

Ten men and one woman aged between 25 and 47 were charged with entering a restricted area without justification after breaching the multi-million dollar APEC security operation on September 6 by driving a fake motorcade through security checkpoints.

The convoy of three black cars, decked out to resemble an official Canadian motorcade, came within metres of the hotel where US President George W Bush was staying, before finally outing themselves to authorities.

Among those arrested was The Chaser's Chas Licciardello, who sat in one of the cars dressed as Osama bin Laden.

Matters against the 11 cast, crew and production members have been adjourned until December 5.

"The (latest) investigation involves actions of individuals and is not related in any way to any incidents during the recent APEC conference," the police spokesman says.

I really only have one thing to say to this company, 'Grow Up', if you don't have staff that can recognise the Chaser's boys by now, something must be wrong. It, like everything else they do, was a harmless prank done in their usual satirical way. For all those interested, here's the clip of what they did.

Actually, you have to remember, some people are really stupid, and may well have thought that this was a real bomb. That could cause a panic, and people might get hurt.
Do you remember when, in America, people thought that neon adverts for Adult Swim were bombs? If they thought that, then surely people might think a really loud ticking packet was a bomb.

Those people were retarded too. Just a couple of weeks later the same guys (Boston, PD) blew up a traffic counter that was chained to a road sign and contracted for by the city because they didn't know what it was. They didn't learn a damn thing. Let's not blame smart people for stupid people's actions. The extent of their stupidity is incalculable and can not be anticipated.

why should a funny joke be cancelled because someone may make a fool of themselves?

anyone knows a idiot does dangerous things all on his own, they need no help.
